Quote from day 2: linking and learning on child marriage Bangkok

Emebet Mulugeta and Kidanu Gebre, both Project Officers for ICDI partner organization Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), from Ethiopia.

Emebet:

“This linking and learning meeting is a wonderful event in my life. It is the first time I have travelled outside Ethiopia and my first time to meet people from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. I really like the interactive training methods that the ICDI trainers are using”.

Kidanu:

“This morning we learned about the seven steps you have to follow when supporting children to become researchers. I think it is really good to let children decide what it is they want to research. I was impressed with the creative activities we did this morning, which we can easily do with children in Ethiopia to help them research issues that are important to them.”

This week, worldwide partners within the HER CHOICE programme – creating child marriage-free communities – meet in Bangkok. ICDI organizes a five day linking and learning event to bring professionals together to build relationships, develop strategies and to learn skills in developing psychological well-being of children growing up in these difficult circumstances.

Linking & learning forms an important element of the HER CHOICE programme. The members of the HER CHOICE alliance all have their own fields of expertise. By working as an alliance they complement each other. Activities to promote linking and learning are organized at local, national and international levels. In order to share knowledge, experience and lessons learnt and to widen support networks. For more information about the HER CHOICE-programme, click here.
